Marley and Me
Have you seen the movie? I did yesterday, and loved it.
On a normal day this movie would have made me cry...but with an old dying dog at home of my own, coupled with raging hormones, I had to stop myself from doing the ugly cry several times. My saving grace is that there was not a dry eye in the house and I could hear people sniffling all over the theatre.
If you love dogs, go see this movie. It was a great story about a family and their devoted best friend!

Munger Christmas
Brian and I just got back from a whirlwind of trip to Colorado Springs to celebrate Christmas with my family.
On Christmas Eve we went to church and a wonderful dinner at The Perry's house. The kids were literally bouncing off the walls!
We laid out the cookies and milk for Santa, a carrot for Rudolph, and a Coors Light for good measure... just incase Santa needed a true refreshment.
Christmas morning started early and we were all very spoiled! Everyone went overboard, as usual. My favorite gift came from my sister:
I introduced my new hubby to the my post breakfast nap, but it was short lived as that the rest of our family was enroute for dinner.
I loved my first Christmas as Mrs Dew. Hopefully next year we will have our own little one to tuck in for the night!

I can't believe this still works..
As seen in a previous post, I had Cooper and Jack on Sunday. Right as I was getting into the shower, a brawl erupted over a batman toy. I yelled for them to stop, and instead of stopping, they burst into the bathroom to tattle on one another.
Now, I must admit my sweet Coopey was really the problem here as that he was totally out of control...screaming, crying...and poor Jack was looking at me as he body blocked himself from Cooper's hits. I stuck my head out the shower curtain and shouted "HEY!", at the top of my lungs- they both looked at my with pure shock on their faces (or, I think I may have reminded them of their mother!"
I told Cooper I was shocked at how he was behaving with Santa watching. He stopped crying for a minute, but started up again when Jack said something to the affect, of "Yea, Cooper, you aren't getting any toys now!"
the following conversation ensued..(mind you, I am still in the shower, yelling at them from behind the curtain!)
Me: Cooper, you have 30 seconds to compose yourself, or I am calling Santa!
Coop (with tears in his eyes and a smirk on his face): Yea, but you don't have his numbers
Me: Oh yes I do! Your mom gave it to me!
Cooper's entire face instantly fell as he contemplated the idea that his mom had given me Santa's digits- he quickly apologized to Jack, and begged me not to call Santa!
I was quite impressed with my ability to think on my feet..and than smiled the rest of my shower that "calling santa" crap still works!

Sunday with my boys
My nephews, Jack and Cooper are with me today. Nik is on call and Mike invited Brian to the Bronco game. While it is quite possible Mike and Bri may freeze to death, we are snug in our home.
We have set up our movie room, as the boys call it. We draw all the blinds, and get pillows and blankets. They get all the dogs on the couch and cuddle up.
I love having them up here. I love that Coop wants to sit on my lap to watch the movie. He told me earlier, " Auntie B, I love you. Why does your hair look so funny?
Disappointed...
My pregnancy test was negative this month- after a long month of hormones, ovulation testing and waiting, a big fat negative! There were days in the last 2 weeks were I thought I might be. Apparently my mind and body were playing tricks on me. I haven't been this disappointed in such a long time.
It look 4 months to figure out what was wrong with me, than 1 month of "it" not working. You would think once they know what is wrong, and give you the meds to fix it, all would be good?! Not so. I am so disappointed. Yes, I know people try for years. Yes, I know there is only a 25% change of getting pregnant each month. But all of those facts still don't help you when it is your own situation.
All of this is mentally exhausting. It is also hard knowing that next steps are higher doses of hormones and more invasive & expensive procedures than just making a baby the old fashioned way!
I think I will have a pity party for myself today. Tomorrow I will move on to next month.

Ozzie is a Dew
The Board of Directors at Big Dogs Huge Paws have decided that with the reality of Ozzie's medical issues, he really is not a great candidate for adoption. It really isn't fair to ask an adopting family to take on a dog that may only have a few months left.
Brian and I are happy to let Oz live out the rest of his life with us. We adore him, and he adores us even more, so I think it has worked out just the way it should.
Welcome home, Oz!

Grouchy loves Grouchier ( is that a word?)
Meet Sadie, our mean 8 year old cocker. She loves people, especially if you are a person with treats. What she does not like is her fellow 4 legged friends. They are beneath her. She snaps, growls, and guards. As of late though, She has gotten to the point where she now tolerates them, as long as they stay out of her personal space.
It is for all the above reasons that this picture made me laugh today. The old man to her right is Ozzie, our sometimes grouchy old foster. His paw was slowly sliding towards hers as they laid side by side. Each time he touched her, she would just curl her lip. He would jerk it back, but eventually his lack of body control would cause it to start sliding back over. This went out for a minute, until she finally decided it was ok that they touched.
Once they established their new found friendship, they than spent the next 3 minutes guarding the doorway, growling at our other dog who wanted to come in. I finally had to make everyone move so save my sanity.

Dew Date Night
Brian has always wanted to try Elways...but that place is so damn expensive, it's not an everyday eatery for us. Last week, I got a surprise in the mail- a gift card to Elways as a belated wedding gift. I didn't tell Bri, and just had him drive us to the restaurant on Friday night.
We had a great dinner- awesome food. We took our time..chatting, laughing, planning our future & reminiscing about how quickly the last two years have flown by!
We left there with full bellies and hearts.

Giving thanks
Being thankful...I simply do not stop enough to really think about all the wonderful things and people I have in my life. Life gets busy and the litte things seem to take over. Bills take over, work takes over, stress takes over.
I am married to the man that I know God made just for me. I wake up in the middle of the night to find him holding my hand. He lets me drink his water that he brings to bed for himself. He would go to the end of the earth for me and never ask for a single thing in return. He puts up with my craziness and my bad moods. He gets me, he understands me and loves me anyways.
I have a wonderful family that I would be lost without. We are in eachother's business way too much & argue too much, but the love and support we get from eachother is a lifeline for me. My nephews are darling and still run to give me hugs. I still smile everytime I hear " Uncle Brian".
Granny is still with us, and looking pretty damn good for 89!
Nik is my rock & drinking buddy (toooo much wine with Thanksgiving dinner!), and Mike is a good friend.
Aunt Denise & Uncle Woo Woo are the best, and I am so thankful that they are here in Colorado!
My Mom & Dad are the best parents a kid could ask for. I would be lost without them. the bad news is that somehow I didn't get a picture of them today! Sorry M & D!

Happy 30th, Schninz
Lindsay turned 30 yesterday, FINLLAY! I don't like having friends still in their 20's, I think it is simply ridiculous.
The Polumbus family was kind enough to invite us to join them at La Sandria, a really good restaurant near Park Meadows ( they have fabulous mojitos too!)Than we were off to join the rest of Lindsay's friends for a bowl-a-thon.
Happy Birthday, dear friend

Meeting Finley
Only a boy would do this....
Last night Nik called, and quickly handed over the phone to Coop so he could tell me something......turns out Cooper (against Jack's advice, or so says Jack) put on Hercie's shock collar and walked downstairs, an area that is off limits to Hercie. Naturally, Coop received a "zap". I asked him what he did next, and he said, " I cried!"
Again, only a boy would do that....

Turkey Fry
Heidi and Barry Bauer have been hosting an annual Turkey Fry for all their friends, to celebrate the holidays, before the craziness of the true holidays begin.
The crowd has grown with new babies, new husbands, & new friends. Heidi swears (again) she is passing the torch next year, but none of us believe her! Nor, will any of agree to such a tragedy.

My after school date with Jackey Boy
I am going to my sister's tonight for a Cookie Lee Party. She is working today and had asked my mom if she could drive up to their house and wait for Jack at his school bus stop. When she was telling me this, I offered to come down a bit early and meet my Jackey Boy so my mom didn't have to drive all the way up there.
Jack called me last night, and we decided that not only would we be going to get ice cream after school, but that buying some Pokemon cards is also a very high priority.
I am really excited to have some alone time with him (Coop will be with grandma). I just love, love, love my Jackey Boy.

Let the pill popping begin...
Let me ask again, who knew you had to have an tight action plan to secure pregnancy? Apparently if your name is Bree Dew, than you do!
After a long conversation with my ob, I made my way to the pharmacy last night to get my goodies that will hopefully result in a baby dew. Our ob suggested we go straight to IUI, but Bri and I both feel we want to give it a month of trying on our own. I am glad she is so proactive, but we figure what is one more month in the grand scheme of this TTC ( trying to conceive..see how much I've learned, I can now speak in abbreviations about conception)
We'll see how it goes, I will be starting Clomid next week....wish us luck.

Meet Ozzie, my new boyfriend
Meet Ozzie, our new foster. Little Daphne was adopted this week, and Lindsay happened to mention an old man was coming into rescue. After sending his pathetic picture to Brian, Bri said we could bring him in (another reason why I love my hubby)
Ozzie arrived tonight. Nervous, skinny, starving, bad hips and two uuuugly skin tags hanging off his belly. He has swollen feet and big knots on his elbows. He was found as a stray, clearing living a hard time.
He has an adorable face, and our dogs don't seem to mind his presence at all. He came in, ate some dinner and is now dead asleep after a long ride today from Kansas. I am anxious to get him to the vet for his hips, but we already got pain meds on board tonight.
Why people continue to think dogs are disposable is beyond me...but I feel lucky to him this boy out!
Please read and encourage our President Elect to adopt, but buy!
Dear Shelters and Rescues and Animal Lovers,
The Presidential campaign may be over, but we're asking you to cast
another quick vote... for pet adoption! As many of you know, President-
Elect Barack Obama has promised his daughters a dog, and he's
expressed his preference to adopt a shelter dog. Imagine the kind of
example that would set for millions of Americans who might follow
Obama's lead! Unfortunately, Mr. Obama is hesitating because he
believes that the kind of "hypoallergenic" dog his daughter Malia
needs may not be found in shelters or rescues. Here's where we come
in, my friends!
Adopt-a-Pet. com is proud to announce the launch of
http://www.Presiden tial-Pooch- Pardon.com
a fun campaign site where you can add your name to a letter telling
our next President, "Yes you can!" (adopt, that is). We all know that
the shelters are full of poodles, schnauzers, and other purebreds and
mixes that have low-dander hair. Please join the movement, sign the
letter, and then forward a link to all your friends and supporters! A
copy of the letter and all the signatures will be delivered directly
to the White House. You can check out the youtube video here:

Why I love being married to Brian
There is a long list why I love him, but last night I went to bed thinking I had really found 'the one' for me.....
It wasn't anything romantic, nothing special...it was simply watching my dear hubby strap on his wrist guards, than his sleep apnia mask...and than it was the ear shattering laughter that erupted from both of us as we inspected his new get-up. I love that we can find humor in the small things together.
I love that we can snuggle in for the night, letting my cackle carry us into a good nights sleep.

You know you're old when....
Brian and I have been asking ourselves this question lately, and I think we officially have an answer...You officially know you are old when you have to wear wrist braces to bed for your carpal tunnel. Don't be jealous ladies, maybe someday you too can sleep next to your hubby with wrist braces!
At least Babycakes is a good sport and let me take a picture of him and his new sleepwear!

Vacation '09
We started a new tradition- by "we", I mean us, Nik's family, & our sorority sisters Katie, Melissa and Lindsey. We try to do a trip every other year!
We did Vegas the summer before last with just husbands. And our 2009 trip, after much debate...drum roll please...will be to The Outer Banks! This time, kids are invited. And there will be a lot of them.. The Zemans, Welshs,& Odoms all have 2 kids. The Phillips have decided not to join us ( a decision we know they will be regretting big time) because they will have a baby. Sidenote, Nik traveled to Mexico with Jack at 8 wks of age, so we all think Trix can haul her 6 mo old to our vacation house....but whatever!
Anyhoo, we made our plane reservations this weekend, so the excitment is back again in the Dew household. The house at the top of this post is what we rented!
Bring on April '09!!

Have you cleaned your coat closet?
I haven't cleaned my coat closet in years. Today, I found myself throwing my body against the hall closet door to close it. Is there really need for that many jackets?
While I had my fair share of old jackets, my dear husband is a pack-rat. For example...I pulled out a raggy looking windbreaker-type-thing, he looked at it and said" I've had that since 1991". WHAT? 1991, are you kidding me??? Than I pulled out another another similar jacket and he said, "Oh, I've had that one even longer". After he spent a few minutes reminiscing, I asked if it might be possible to donate his wonderful jackets to people who might actually a) fit in them b) wear them!
So, my point to this is post is that everyone needs to clean our their hall closets and donate their old jackets! I know in Denver they are in the middle of a coat drive, and Bri's work is holding one as well. It's getting cold out...
