Recap

Great, great, great weekend!

Friday night the Bauers hosted us for a yummy bbque. We shared some good laughs at their gorgeous new house!

Saturday we got to visit with my AXO Girls and their adorable babies. I still shake my head that the majority of my wild and crazy college friends have kids! They are all such wonderful mothers!

Saturday night we tried our Makuni's in Lonetree with the Noltes. I hate to break it to you John Holly's, but Makuni is my new favorite sushi place. I also laughed when I ordered a vodka tonic and the waitress replied, "Would you like a double for only an extra $2"...it was like super sizing had made it's way to a real live restaurant. I also got to love on Elliotte who is about as cute as they come.

Sunday was our "Free Day" where we did nothing we didn't want to. Bri and Sadie grilled dinner for us!

This cute girl joined us for the weekend:

On Sunday morning, Lindsay and I headed to out The Devin Ranch to meet their new girls and learn more about their Alpaca venture. Jitterbug, the brown one, let us pet her which was pretty cool.

On Sunday evening we headed to over to the Wennbergs for a Memorial Day BBQ. It was a great relaxed evening.
Emma is almost 9 months old now and is as cute as they come. She entertained us with her crazy faces as she ate lime slice after lime slice.

Brian and I also toasted his Dad, Tom as that Monday marked the 31st anniversary of his death.
It was a crazed filled weekend, but oh so much fun! I woke up this morning exhausted and needing a day of rest, but wouldn't have changed our weekend for the world!

Happy 9th Birthday, Jackey Boy

Dear Jackey Boy

You turn 9 today. You are growing taller everyday and you have the most handsome face and big brown eyes. I often find myself looking at you and wondering where this boy came from?

I have the most vivid memories of the weekend you were born. I remember pulling over on the side of the road as I talked to your mommy right after you were born because my eye were filled with tears. I had no idea of how much you would change my life.

In true typical 9 yr old fashion you are more interested in XBox, friends and movies than you are hanging out with our old Auntie. But you always get a big smile on your face when you see me. I love that smile.

This year as you opened your gifts you came across our card to you on which I had written "Jackey Boy" on the outside. You turned to me with a big grin and said, "Uhhhhh, Auntie B? I wonder who this is from?" I just smiled and said, "I don't know you open it.", for which he replied, " I know it's you, that's your special name for just me!"

Jack, we are so proud of you and watching you and Coop grow up has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life.

What did I ever do to get so lucky?

All my love,

Auntie B

I love the Farmers Market & my Husband

I had forgotten how much I love the Farmers Market! Friendly people, great vendor & yummy smells. Bri and I took along Deacon & Bobbie, who loved the attention! If I had a penny for every time someone stopped us to ask" How much does he weigh?", I could have taken home more flowers! I often found myself turning to say something to Brian only to find him feet behind me, surrounded by kids and adults asking questions and loving on Deacs.

Brian agreed to this lovely purchase:

Than, a trip to Home Depot yielded me this other beauty:
Upon returning home and spreading my new loot around the yard, I came to the conclusion we were short a basket. Brian rolled his eyes as I suggested (as I was heading out the door with purse on shoulder), that I needed to go back to the Farmers Market for another hanging basket- for which he said, " Do whatever makes you happy!". Off to the market I went to snag this:

It was a great morning with my Love.

PS- The hanging plants are HUGE- and 2 for $45! That is a steal. The had similiar ones at Home Depot for $59.97! I highly suggest the Farmer Markets next weekend if you need some summer fun!

Boo.

The baby Gods continue to be against us----the latest treatment didn't work. I am so disappointed, frustrated, angry and tired....so, so tired. Like, tired to my bones tired.

We will try again...as we always do...but I can't say it is with much enthusiasm.

It's really sad how hard this has to be.

A.P.S.

After Prom Syndrome....an affect that happens once an event comes and goes and the deep depression you go into once the fun event has passed. I have it.

The event this weekend was a quick trip from our dear friend, Lindsey aka Trix, whose parents sent her out here for a girls weekend. The laughing, as predicted, was completely out of control. The jokes made at one another's expense continued throughout the weekend.

We were also pleasantly surprised when the Odoms decided to make a trip down on Saturday to say hello! All that was missing was our favorite Welsh family!

Girlfriends who know you inside and out, and love you regardless are the best kind.

Mother's Day

I figured Mother's Day would be hard on me with all that we've been through. Mother's Day 2009 everyone kept saying, "Next year we will be Bree will be here with her babies!". It was really sad to realize we still aren't there a whole year later.

We started our day off with a great service at Greenwood Community with the Polumbus'. I started crying about 1 minute into the service and pretty much did not stop. I am pretty sure I saw Babycakes tear up too. It was a wonderful service in which we celebrated Moms, but I loved that they acknowledged those that don't have the perfect reasons to celebrate- those of us who want to be a mom, those who have lost their mothers and even those that don't have the desired relationship with their mothers. I saw a lot of tears in just the few pews around us, so I am sure there were many more throughout the church.

After church we headed to the Springs to celebrate with the family. My mom handed me a card on when we arrived and told me to read it later and I quickly put it in my purse knowing tears would be flowing again if I didn't. We had yummy ribs and hamburgers- the house was filled with our dearest family & friends. It was pure chaos, as usual.

When we hit the road back to Denver I opened the card and found these sweet words from my incredible Mom:

Dear Bree-

Sometimes in life we get things we ask for, and sometimes get things we don't ask for. I'm so very proud of your strength and courage in your attempt to have a child. A person's character really shows under adversity and you've proven how strong and loving you are.

I'm so blessed to have you as my daughter.

My prayers are always there for the gift of life for you and Brian.

All my love, Mom

Here we are, supposed to be celebrating her and she instinctively knows I am hurting and writes me a note to let me know how much I am loved. I am such a lucky girl. I hope Iam half the Mother she is.

Mother

She's the whisper in the leaves are you walk down the street

She's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore.

She's the cool hand on your brow when you are not feeling well,

She's the breath in the air on a cold winter's day.

She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of the rainbow, she is Christmas morning.

And, she's crystalized in every tear drop.

A Mother shows every emotion....happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow...and all the while hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life.

She's the place you came from, and the map you will follow with every step you take.

She's your first love, your first friend, and even your first enemy.

But nothing can separate you. No time, not space, not even death.
