Deacon Dew

We sadly said goodbye to our sweet boy, Deacon, this week. It was sudden & unexpected. Brian was on a  business trip which was even more traumatizing (for me!). There are just no words for how sick I still feel about this whole situation.

He was more than we could have ever asked for in a dog. Loyal, sensitive & loving. He was my protector- I always felt so safe with him by my side. While he certainly did not want any nonsense at the hands of the kids when they were awake, he always stayed on our landing once they were in bed. Standing guard.  We were his world.

We love you Deacie. I am so sorry we couldn't save you.

A Rescuer's Heart

Brian said I put it perfectly when I said "He will never understand my rescuer's heart, but he supports it".

Our St. Patty's Day Birthday Boy

Our boy is 1. Unbelievable. Brian and I still remark to one another how shocked we are that not only did we have a 2nd baby, but it was a boy. Miller is so adorable, so sweet and funny. He is laid-back and goes with the flow.  He walked at 9.5 months, says "Mama" "Dada" and has 6 teeth. He is a big boy- bigger than everyone in his new class.

This boy makes my heart swell with love. As soon as he makes eye contact with you, he gives you the biggest grin. He laughs all the time. He is happy. He makes me happy.

Mills, I love you. I adore you. I pray every night you continue to be healthy & happy, that you grow into a man that is loyal & good. Daddy and I will do everything in our power to make sure that happens.

Happy 1st Birthday, Son!

Out of the mouths of babes

A few gems coming from our girl's mouth these days

"Mama, what in the world are you doing?"

"You are a goofy goof goof-ball"

"I told you to be careful with me!"

"Mommy, you know everything!"

"I love you Millie Boo-Boo"

"Do you know XYZ sits down when he pees? That is not the right way for a boy!"

"Mama, don't flip out!"

"I feel terrible, just terrible, that I sassed my teacher!"

"Yes, yes, I am awesome"

"Awwww, nuts!"

"I don't want anything! I am not eating anything nothing ever again!"

"Awww, barf!"

"You are not being a good friend to me, Mama"

"I'm a nice girl!"

Big Boy Haircut

Iam not even remotely lying when I saw I was almost brought to tears during this experience. This boy honestly melts me. I just could not believe how big he is. Where is my baby going? Don't leave me, Boo Boo!

Valentine's Day 2015

We celebrated twice. Once with the kids. Once with just us.  All Syd knew is we were having a party with cupcakes and gifts. All I knew is that when theses kids went to bed, Mommy & Daddy were having crab legs!

Are you a grown up?

SJ: "Mama, are you a grown up and I am a kid?"

Me: "Yes"

SJ:"Will I be a grown up someday?"

Me: "Yes, but I don't want you to be because when you are a grown up we won't live together anymore!"

SJ (with instant tears in her eyes): "Why? What? No! I don't want to leave you. I want to be with you forever, Mama!"

And the tears in her eyes were met by mine.

40.40.40

I turned 40 on Friday. I was in denial. Than on Thursday night we went to my sister's house for the family dinner and I walked in and found Trix standing there-Brian had flown her in. Screams in very high pitched decimals came out of my mouth. I couldn't believe they pulled that off without me knowing!

Brian and the kids woke me up with presents and balloons, the surprises continued with pedi's and a lunch at my mom's clubhouse.

Than I was told to be ready at 6:30 and opened the door to find a stretch hummer limo, courtesy of my Mom.
Than I was told we were stopping for a drink before dinner. Instead I walked into a surprise party with everyone I love most in the world.  Friends from when I moved here when I was 12 to new friends from our new neighborhood.

I haven't felt that special in a long time. It was awesome! My sister and hubby put so much thought into the surprises and activities. I honestly felt so loved. And oh did I laugh. The deep belly laugh over and over again throughout the weekend.

My first 40 years on this earth have been plentiful. I have loved,  I have become an Aunt, I have become a Wife & Mother. I have great friends. I am blessed beyond belief.

10 months old

Our boy is 10 months old.

-Taking a few steps

-Busting through 4 teeth at once (insert exhaustion on the part of his parents here)

-When you tell him no, he laughs

-When he is doing something he shouldn't and sees you coming, he turns and crawls as fast as he can in the other direction, laughing

-Climbing the stairs and trying to kill himself every 3 seconds (insert expensive baby gate here)

-Loves his Daddy more than anything

-Starting to drive his big sis crazy by always trying to grab the i pad

-Wearing 18mon/24 month clothing

-Huge grins and laughs all the time

I love you Boo-Boo!
