Deacon & Dutch
Deacon is almost 4 months old, and weighed in this past weekend at a very healthy 64lbs! He literally grows before our eyes! He is a wonderful puppy and all he wants to do in life is eat, sleep, play and sleep! Since we brought him home,he has done his best to entice his siblings with him, but to no avail.
Within the last week though, things have turn around for little guy. Zachey has tries to play, which Deacon reacts to by falling on the ground and crying in fear- I must say he is not the bravest mastiff around!!! Tonight, we were stunnned and completely entertained that Deac and Dutchie started to play---who knew a dying old lady still had it in her? She had to tell him off a few times, and gave him a few "bitch slaps" to the head, but he was so happy! She has always shown a lot of patience to him, and it was wonderful to see them have fun tonight!

Officially a Family of 7
We are officially a family of 7, with the latest addition of our most recent foster, now permanent foster,Duchess.
Dutchie came into rescue on 12-1-07, and has been with us ever since. To make a long story short, she has a bad back and a severe heart condition-both of which are not helping her quality of life. It has been quite clear for a while now that Dutch 100% believe she belongs to us, and we cannot bear the thought of making her leave us at this point.
We are afraid she may only have a short time left with us and we are literally making day to day observations to make sure she is doing ok. I just wanted her to belong to someone before her time came, and I am thrilled she has chosen us!

Happy 33rd in Scottsdale
Bri surprised me with a quick trip to AZ (with Nik and Mike) to see Linds and Chris. We had a ball. The drinking, laughing, dancing, eating...and did I mention drinking, were abundant. As Brian said, " I've never seen anyone be able to make you laugh until you almost throw up like when you are with Nik and Linds!".
Our nightly hangout was "Ernie's", which is what Lindsey likes to call an "upscale karaoke bar". In all honesty, the people were quite good, and who would have known we would have been slow dancing at a karaoke bar!!
I simply have the best friends in the world!

Happy Birthday to me!
Today is the big 33rd birthday! I still cannot believe I am "that" old, I guess it is because I still think of myself as 18 :)
My wonderful friends, Kari and Ethan, along with Linds and Colin, had us over for pizza/beer/wine/vodka tonics! It is hard for me to believe that these people were not in my life a few years ago, and now I count them as my dearest friends! I guess I owe RMGDRI for that too!
We are off to AZ tomorrow to celebrate with Nik, Mike, Lindsey & Chris... I am sure there will be plenty to write after this trip!

A piece of who you are

My mom had a wonderful and thoughtful idea for a gift for Bri's birthday- to preserve and frame the flag that belonged to his father, Tom, who passed away when he was 18 months old. Bri's mom was nice enough to give us permission to do so, and sent the flag to my mom to work her magic.
I think we were all shocked at how beautiful it turned out. Esther had included his dates of service with the military, which my mom added to the plaque.
It goes without saying that Brian was incredibly touched, and very proud to have something of Tom's that we can hang in our home.
